We’ve all seen the shows where neighbors compete to have the flashiest and most over-the-top holiday light display. Well, never mind individual residences, for some truly dramatic light displays you may have to see to believe you need to get out and see the light displays available to view at these public venues.
St. Augustine, Florida covers its monuments in white lights for the holiday viewer, while Denver’s Botanical Gardens illuminates its flora. Less classy, but fun, Richmond Va, has an annual “Tacky Lights Tour” with residences notified that they made the cut, provided they have the minimum number of lights. Las Vegas Motor Speedway gets all lit up for Christmas, as does downtown LA. Clifton Mill, Ohio creates a veritable waterfall of lights, besides covering bridges and trees and water banks. Austin, Texas has a huge tree, a Ferris wheel a carousel and lots and lots of lights.
Key Takeaways:
- Denver Botanic Gardens sets the scene for a classy holiday with Blossoms of Light.
- On the opposite end of the spectrum is the Richmond Times-Dispatchâs annual list lovingly named the Tacky Lights Tour.
- Downtown L.A. Walking Tours offers a nightly Holiday Lights Tour showcasing how the City of Angeles celebrates the season.
